Poland amends specific food labeling regulations

2025Year11Month18Day, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland issued the1574decree, amending the provisions on the labeling of certain food products, which shall take effect90days after the date of publication. Main points:

  1.Only products that meet the requirements of the "Preserves, Conserves, Jellies, Marmalades, Plum Puddings, and Sweet Chestnut Paste Commercial Quality Detailed Requirements Regulations" may use the names "Preserves", "Special Preserves", "Jellies", "Special Jellies", "Citrus Fruit Marmalades", "Jelly Marmalades", "Hard or Soft Marmalades from Non-Citrus Fruits", "Plum Pudding", or "Sweet Chestnut Paste"; the labels of the above-mentioned foods should indicate the fruit content in the edible products::"Each100grams of product contain  grams of fruit";

  2.Juice of sea-buckthorn fruit, with added sugar content <140g/L, the label should include the name “Sweet sea-buckthorn juice”:Juice made directly from coconut, without squeezing the coconut meat, the label should include the name “Coconut juice” or “Lemonade”:The name of the product on the label should include the types of fruits used in the product, and be listed in descending order of the amount of fruit juice or puree used; Juice drinks made entirely or in part from one or more concentrated fruit juices, low-sugar concentrated fruit juices or concentrated fruit purees should be indicated with the information “Made from concentrated fruit juice” in a clear and conspicuous manner near the food name; On the labels of fruit juices and concentrated fruit juices, the information “Fruit juice contains only natural sugars” can be placed in the same field of vision as the product name;

3.If the honey is from more than one country, the country of origin for each type of honey and the percentage of honey from each country must be indicated, with an error range of ±5% for each percentage; this information must be placed in the main field of view and arranged in descending order of the percentage for each type of honey.
