Lithuania plans to revise regulations on quality requirements for mushrooms and their products

   On October 14 , 2024 , the Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture issued draft regulations No. 24-16208 , which intends to revise the quality requirements regulations for mushrooms and their products. The feedback period ends on October 30 , 2024 . The main contents include:

  ( 1 ) Applicable to mushrooms and their products, the definitions of dried, pickled, oil-soaked, frozen, canned and other mushroom products are formulated;

  ( 2 ) Inedible varieties should be removed before preserving and using mushrooms, and basic quality requirements have been formulated. Mushrooms must be healthy, clean, mechanically complete, and have as few traces of wormholes as possible;

  ( 3 ) Specifies the ingredients allowed to be added to processed mushroom products, including salt, spices, white sugar or other sugars, refined vegetable oil, butter, wine, etc., and stipulates the physical and chemical indicators of various mushroom products, such as the salt and sugar content of pickled mushrooms. shall not exceed 2.5% ;

  ( 4 ) It is stipulated that in addition to the mandatory labeling content of general food, the labels of mushroom products should also be specially labeled. For example, products made from several kinds of mushrooms should be labeled "mixture".
