On December 2, 2024, the European Food Safety Agency ( EFSA ) issued the public consultation document No. PC-1220 , intending to authorize β - hydroxybutyrate mixture (59% BHB-Na , 27% BHB-Mg , 14% BHB-Ca) as a new type of food . The main contents are as follows:

　　( 1 ) This new type of food is intended to be used as an ingredient for food supplements. For general adult use, not suitable for children, pregnant women and breastfeeding women;

　　( 2 ) The maximum daily intake is 6g . The feedback period for the consultation document is as of December 23 , 2024 .
