On December 16, 2024, according to the EU Food Safety Agency ( EFSA ), the EU Nutrition, New Food and Food Allergens ( NDA ) research team expressed scientific opinions on the safety of freeze-dried and powdered forms of house crickets as new foods.

　　After evaluation, the expert team concluded that freeze-dried home cricket powder is safe as a new type of food under the proposed use conditions.
