Brazil Revises Quality Standards for Wine and Wine Derivatives

   On October 11 , 2024 , the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply issued Document No. 723 to revise the quality standards for wine and wine derivatives. Effective on the date of publication. Main content:

  ( 1 ) The alcohol content on the wine label is expressed in volume percentage at 20 °C, with an error range of ± 0.5% ; water can be added to Cognac or high-quality brandy to adjust the alcohol content; sugar can be used for sweetening; caramel color can be used Color mixing;

  ( 2 ) Revise the definitions of several wines and beverages. The alcohol content of refreshing wine drinks at 20 degrees Celsius is 3.5%-7.0% ; the alcohol content of sangria is 7%-12% , etc.; carbonated alcoholic beverages must display the following warning phrase on the label: "Handle with care, under pressure" .
