On December 27, 2024 , the National Food Safety Agency of Moldova ( ANSA ) warned and reminded economic operators that the Republic of Moldova no longer authorized the use of food additive titanium dioxide in food. However, titanium dioxide-containing foods placed on the market before these amendments come into effect can remain in circulation until the product's shelf life expires or inventory is exhausted. ANSA will strengthen controls on food on the market, including at border ports, to assess the risk of titanium dioxide content. Titanium dioxide is used to make many foods white, from baked goods and spreads to soups and sauces, salad dressings and dietary supplements. Meanwhile, titanium dioxide is still authorized for use in medicines in the EU and the Republic of Moldova. Ulisin A has been shown to enhance the circadian gene oscillation amplitude of human senescent cells On December 25 , 2024 , a new study published in Nutrients found that the natural polyphenol metabolite urolithin A ( 3,8-dihydroxy-6H-dibenzopyran-6-one , UA ) can enhance the circadian gene oscillation amplitude of human senescent cells. This study used aging human embryonic lung fibroblast TIG-3 to evaluate the effect of ellagic acid and its metabolites (urolithin A , B , and C ) on the cellular clock. The study found that UA promotes the stability and deacetylation activity of the key protein SIRT1 , while accelerating the degradation of PER2 protein, and enhances the oscillation amplitude of the circadian rhythm regulatory gene BMAL1 .
