On August 8 , the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety ( MFDS ) of South Korea issued Announcement No. 2024-366 , which intends to amend part of the "Regulations on the Implementation of Laws on the Labeling and Advertising of Food, etc. ". The main contents are as follows:

  1. In order to strengthen the provision of nutritional information to consumers, the scope of nutrition labeling requirements has been expanded to be consistent with major countries such as the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan, and China.

  2. Solid foods that use guarana as raw material and contain more than a certain amount of caffeine should also be marked as high-caffeine foods, and warning labels should be strengthened to facilitate consumers' understanding.

  3. Frozen foods must be compulsorily labeled with the following warning: "Already frozen, do not freeze again after thawing." However, foods that are eaten immediately, such as ice cubes or ice cream, do not need to be labeled with such a label on frozen foods that do not need to be defrosted.

The above   opinion collection period ends on September 19 , 2024 .
