On August 15 , 2024 , the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan issued Announcements No. 536 and 537 to revise two food standards. The details are:
( 1 ) The main revisions to the bread crumb standard (No. JAS1491:2024 ) are: new product labeling requirements, such as mandatory labeling information including product name, storage method, shelf life, raw materials, food additives, country of origin, etc., and also stipulates The labeling requirements for the above information, etc.;
( 2 ) Standards for processed tomato products (No. JAS1419:2024 ), which mainly revise the quality and sensory standards of tomato sauce and tomato puree products; the total addition amount of other plant-derived ingredients other than tomatoes in the newly added solid processed tomato products does not exceed 10 % provisions, etc.
The above announcement shall be effective from the date of issuance.
