2025Year2February27, the Japanese Consumer Affairs Agency released235080082 proposal, aiming to revise the regulations on the labeling of specific health functional foods. The main points of the revision include:

　　New management measures for health food containing red yeast have been added, strengthening the production, manufacturing, and quality management requirements for this type of specific health food.

　　For tablets, capsules and other food products made from natural extracts, introduceGMP standards, and make it a part of the application conditions for the declaration permit and the official follow-up supervision and management;

　　Developing examples of permit language for health claims on labels to reduce disease risk;

　　It is stipulated that the data of the observation study is one of the scientific basis that must be submitted when applying for the permission of health food, and its content requirements are clarified.
