On January 21 , 2025 , according to the official EU communiqué, the European Commission issued Regulation ( EU ) No. 2025/89 , and approved the UV-treated powder of whole yellow mealworm powder ( UV-treated powder of whole yellow mealworm ) as a new type of food to be put on the market as a new type of food, and revised the attachment to the European Commission Implementation Regulations ( EU ) 2017/2470 .

　　This Regulation shall come into force on the 20th day from the date of its publication.
