According to the Official Journal of the European Union,on12December2025,the European Commission issued Regulation (EU)2025/2498, which, in accordance with Council and European Parliament Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003,approves4-hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-3(2H)furanone (4-hydroxy-2,5-dimethylfuran-3(2H)-one) as a feed additive for all animals except dogs and cats.

According to the conditions specified in the attachment, this additive is authorized as a member of the category of "sensory additives" and the functional group of "flavoring compounds" for animal additives. The authorization expiration date is 2036 year1 month1 day. This regulation shall come into effect on the twenty-first day after the date of its issuance.
