Ireland issues guidance on allergen statements for non-prepackaged food

2025Year6June25, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued the "Guidance on Food Allergen Labelling of Non-Packed Food in Ireland (Second Edition)", the main content of which includes the purpose of the guidance, the affected food businesses, food allergens, relevant ingredients or contaminants, non-packed food, when to declare food allergens, when not to declare food allergens, how to declare food allergens, non-compliant allergen declarations, relevant conformity requirements, etc.

Related allergens include grains, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulfur dioxide and sulfites, lupin, mollusks. The purpose of this Guide is to provide guidance to food businesses to comply with the relevant regulatory requirements for the declaration of relevant food allergens in the production, preparation and supply of non-prepackaged food. The main changes in this second edition of the Guide are the clarification of14food allergens for the production and preparation of non-prepackaged food (i.e. the above mentioned grains, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulfur dioxide and sulfites, lupin, mollusks). The second edition of the Guide further requires food businesses to comply with2014No.489Health Regulations when supplying non-prepackaged food.
