On August 27, 2024, the Food Standards Agency of Australia and New Zealand ( FSANZ ) issued Notice No. 303-24 , including application No. A1291 , soliciting opinions on a glucoamylase ( Glucoamylase ) as a processing aid .
According to the notice, the glucoamylase is produced by genetically modified Aspergillus niger (gene donor: Pleurophyllum septicum) and is used in the brewing process, baking process, starch processing and distilled alcohol processing. The deadline for comments is 6pm (Canberra time ) on 24 September 2024 .
